Superintendent's Update - October 2022
Posted 11/7/22

Dear Hacienda La Puente Unified Community,

Inspired by the excitement of the fall season, our students are thriving while engaging in extracurricular activities, programs and Districtwide celebrations.

In October, our campuses recognized numerous national holidays, including World Mental Health Day and Unity Day, which focused on prioritizing mental health and promoting acceptance and inclusion across the District.

Our school sites celebrated Red Ribbon Week with fun and creative activities that encouraged students to stay drug-free. At the same time, our Equity and Access, Family Engagement Department worked diligently on sharing important resources with our District community, related to the dangers of drugs and ways to communicate with your child.

I want to thank our local law enforcement and non-profit organizations for partnering with us to bring our students, staff and families helpful webinars, town halls and meetings regarding fentanyl and substance abuse.

In October we also celebrated our hard-working staff during the 2021-22 Teachers and Employees of the Year ceremony. Thank you to our District team for leading, inspiring and supporting our student's daily educational journey.

As a reminder, our Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) survey is open now! We value and appreciate your feedback as we work to ensure that our action plan meets the needs of our students, staff and families.

Hacienda La Puente Unified remains focused on implementing innovative educational opportunities for our students and we look forward to what the last two months of 2022 have in store for us!

As always, we are #ProudtobeHLPUSD.

Sincerely, Dr. Alfonso Jiménez
