Wedgeworth Hot News

Congratulations, Wedgeworth families! Wedgeworth was awarded for California Honor Roll and STEM Honor Roll. The 2016 Honor Roll recognizes public elementary, middle, and high schools that demonstrate consistently high levels of student academic achievement, improvement in achievement over time, and reduction in achievement gaps. Through national research, the Campaign for Business and Education Excellence (CBEE) has identified a common set of success factors in higher performing Honor Roll schools and districts. These include clear, specific learning objectives aligned to college and career readiness, along with evidence-based instructional practices; establishing system-wide mission of college and career readiness for all students; investing in human capital; maintaining data and assessment systems to monitor school and student performance; and deploying resources and guidance to support schools' efforts to prepare all students for college and career.

Attention! Attention! We would like to bring your attention to the safety and welfare of our students being dropped off for school. We ask you to be aware of the potential dangers that exist when dropping off your children every morning. The safety and welfare of our students is always a top priority. Please follow the guidelines in order to minimize congestion and keep our students safe.

Morning Drop Off:

  1. The general window of time to drop your student(s) off at school is 7:30 am-7:55am. Leave with plenty of time each morning.  Most problems occur when we are rushing along in the morning.  Please note that students are expected be in their class line at 8:00 am and ready to learn by 8:05 am in their classroom.
  2. When dropping off your child, please pull your car to the curb side. DO NOT PARK/ UNLOAD in RED Zone. For the safety of all, do not stop and park your car in the middle of the street or at the stop sign. All cars must stop when students are crossing the driveway/street.
  3. If you choose to park your car and walk your child to school, please continue to set a good example for your children by using the crosswalk to cross the street-NO JAYWALKING.

When you are using the side gate to drop off your child, please follow the school safety procedure.

*** 5 mph regulation. Drive to the yellow-striped area by the MPR

  • There is NO Dropping off students in areas painted red or in the drive through lane.
  • The Drop Off Zone is next to MPR.  There are 3 signs that are posted for drop off.  Please pull all the way forward! From the first car, please drop off students 3-4 cars back but no further. This is to ensure the safety of your children.
  • Students are to exit the car using the Driver’s side ONLY to avoid exiting into traffic lanes.
  • Please don’t exit your vehicle at anytime. This will create traffic jam.
  • NO parking! Please don’t park your car and drop off your child. If desired, you can use the Wedgeworth Drive (which is in the front of the school, in designated areas) to park and drop off your child.
